Why I Started The Stories We Carry

I've always believed that photography is about so much more than capturing what someone looks like. It's about preserving who they are.

I started The Stories We Carry because I found myself thinking about how many people we encounter every day without ever knowing what they've lived through. We see their faces, their age, their appearance, but we don't see the decades of memories, the people they've loved, the things they've lost, the hardships they've overcome, or the dreams they still carry.

I was especially drawn to the older generations. People who have lived entire lifetimes, witnessed the world change, fallen in love, experienced heartbreak, made mistakes, started over, and continued becoming themselves. Yet so often, we see their age before we see the person.

I wanted to change that.

My mission is to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and valued. A place where they can tell their stories in their own words, without judgment or expectations of what their lives should have looked like.

Through documentary photography and honest, intimate conversations, I hope to preserve not only their memories but their humanity. The laughter, the vulnerability, the contradictions, the difficult chapters, and the beautiful moments that make every life unique.

I don't believe a story has to be extraordinary to be worth telling. I believe the ordinary parts of being human are often the most extraordinary.

And if this project encourages even one person to sit down with someone, ask a question they've never asked before, or see a stranger a little differently, then it's already accomplished something meaningful.

Because one day, we will all be someone with a lifetime of stories behind us. And I hope someone will care enough to listen.
